Basis
Fitram was created between several member states of the Council of Europe to establish a common basis of knowledges by working with people with disabilities through the mediation of the Animal or Art.
Fitram is an NGO agreed as a participative member of the Council of Europe .It is also member of the EASPD (European associations for services to persons with disabilities) and uses the principles of the ECC (European care certificate).
(I will not mention for our colleagues what I told above the States and the Public concerned: you know that.)
Aims
Enhance the quality of services to people with disabilities, through the mediation of the Animal (for the moment essentially the horse and the dog ,other animals are possible, and in the future we may add the Art).
Methods:
- We must first go through the knowledges required for theses services, in the different member states.
- Then we must meet to think about what is essential in these competences, according to the ECC.
- Based on these competences, we have to build a large framework which has to include not only the basic knowledges but also all the specific ones according to the population we work with ,the care they need, and the different duties demanded.
- These researches are based on practice evidence.
- In France, for instance:
- We meet since two years in groups of “experts “in the different ways of working with animals: we have build a Charter, and we also experiment a new university program this year.We want also to create a scientific commission .which may give us neurophysiological and psychological arguments in our practice. Researcher from different States are willing to join us.
Coordinating duties of Fitram
- To favour the communication between the partners, especially to organize the planning of the meetings in the different States.
- To collect the informations ,and to select them in order to submit them to the partners
- To propose mains of working together;
- To keep in touch with the European instances so to make them know what we are doing and arouse their interest in order to favour the official recognition of our work.
